Bearcats land a commitment from 4 star PF Tyler McKinley

This evening the Bearcats landed a commitment from high four star power forward/center Tyler McKinley. McKinley, a Cincinnati native played his first two season of high school ball right here in Cincinnati at Walnut Hills, before transferring to the nation’s top program in Link Academy for his final two seasons. McKinley, chose to take a similar route to what his great friend Rayvon Griffith did after dominating the Cincinnati area, then transferring to top programs around the country. McKinley’s Link Prep actually defeated Griffith’s AZ Prep Compass this past spring for a National Championship.

Wes Miller and staff have made it a priority to keep the local talent right here in Cincinnati and have done just that since taking over as the Bearcats head coach in 2021. McKinley, a 6’9”, 220 pound forward is currently rated the 62nd player in the class of 2024 per 247 Sports. McKinley, an elite forward with great feel around the rim. He has great footwork and hands around the rim, which shows his willingness to be effective on the boards. McKinley, can also really score the ball as well.

“I’m so excited for Tyler and the city of Cincinnati. It’s great to see our top talent remaining in the city for college. #BearcatNation will absolutely love him, his hustle, his overall desire to win, and the way he will put on for the city,” former head coach Ricardo Hill.
