Fall camp has officially started for Scott Satterfield and the Bearcats ahead of their inaugural season withing the Big 12 Conference. “One month from tomorrow we kick off our first game vs Eastern Kentucky, so as we start fall camp this week, we have to have that sense of urgency now,” said coach Satterfield.
However, this Bearcats roster will look a lot different than previous years, as they welcome 33 new scholarship players to the program, 21 of those coming via transfer portal. That is typically something you don’t see quite often with a new coaching staff; however, the Bearcats will use that to their advantage come this fall as opposing teams won’t know what to really expect until season kicks off.
“I think we can use that to our advantage,” Satterfield said. “If we’re sitting here as coaches, we don’t really know what some of these guys are capable of doing, certainly opponents don’t know what they can do either. The big thing is looking offensively when it is 3rd-and-6, 3rd-and-7, 3rd-and-8, whose number are we going to dial up, who is going to be that guy where we all feel good about it and the ball is going to get in those hands and make that play for the first down.”
