This afternoon, Molly Alvey and the Bearcats wrapped up their annual Tribute to No. 10 tournament with a huge 3-0 victory over Indiana State to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Bearcats dominated from the jump as the Sycamores just had no answer for the experienced Bearcats here at Fifth Third Arena.
The Bearcats hit a stellar .348% as a team in their 3-0 victory over Indiana State, and for those who follow the sport of volleyball know how impressive a stat like that can be.
Molly Alvey made it known earlier this week about the importance of landing graduate student Jadyn Bauss after she entered her name into the NCAA transfer portal this offseason, and Bearcats fans saw exactly why this afternoon.
Bauss, would finish with a match high 20 kills on 39 hitting attempts, hitting a stellar .410 on the match, while recording seven digs and three blocks along the way. if Bauss, continues to have showings like that throughout the season, she will find her name into those conversations for Big 12 Player of the Year.
Junior middle blocker Abby Walker recorded 13 kills on 20 attempts, hitting a .600% on the match.
Bearcats’ graduate libero Carly Skrabak did a fantastic job anchoring the back line finishing with a match high 17 digs.
Junior setter Katlyn Lefler dished out a match high 39 assists, and recorded 11 digs along the way, really controlling the offense for the Bearcats.
How it Happened
Set 1- The Bearcats would take an early 14-8 lead following three consecutive kills from Nina Horning, Abby Walker and Katelyn Lefler. However, the Sycamores would rally back with a four-point run cutting the Bearcats lead to two trailing 14-12, forcing a Cincinnati timeout. The Bearcats would then rally back and take a 19-16 lead following a service ace from Jadyn Bauss, that would result in an Indiana State timeout. The Sycamores pulled within three points, before taking their final timeout trailing 23-20. The Bearcats would take Set 1, 25-21 after Jadyn Bauss recorded her 6th kill of the match on a .308% clip/
Set 2- Cincinnati jumped out to an early 4-0 lead following three straight kills from Bauss and Williams. However, the Sycamores would fight back with a three-point run of their own following consecutive kills from Kayla Hamilton. Indiana State would rally back and take their first lead of the afternoon, leading 10-8. Cincinnati responded with a three-point run, as outside Jadyn Bauss continued to be a problem for the Sycamores after recording consecutive kills to give the Bearcats an 11-8 lead. The Bearcats would not look back from there after a huge four-point run, sparked an 18-13 lead in favor of Cincinnati. The Bearcats would hold on and defeat the Sycamores 25-18 to strike a huge 2-0 lead.
Set 3- The Sycamores jumped out to an early 8-6 lead, after setting the tone early following an early 3-point lead to start the match. The Bearcats would power back and take a 14-11 lead after Jadyn Bauss recorded her 20th kill of the match, and 5th of the set. The Bearcats would slam the doors after a 6-1 run to complete the clean sweep over Indiana State 25-17.

The Bearcats will now have four days off before the head to Tennessee, to take part in the Gold Eagle Tournament starting on Friday, September 1st, with a double header vs Kennesaw State at 2 pm, followed by ETSU at 6 pm.
