Lakota West WR Trey Barnette recaps his visit to Cincinnati

On his visit to Cincinnati

“It was great. The atmosphere on Saturday for their Big 12 opener was crazy,” Barnette said. “Nippert Stadium is really a special place.”

What coaches have you been in contact with?

I talked to Coach Zach Grant and Coach Coombs, as those were the only two, I talked to personally.”

Talk about the experience on campus a little bit obviously Big Noon Kickoff, first Big 12 game. What was the environment like for you as a recruit?

“It was wild. I’ve been to Kroger field (UK) a couple times, and it was the only thing close to the game on Saturday. It really makes you excited for the future and the chance to play in that kind of environment each week.”

You actually got to take this visit with a bunch of teammates of yours, talk about what it was like to have that experience to all share that opportunity together?

“It’s great really makes you think about how special your team really is. We all have been working to get better and it’s just a testament to the effort that we put in day in and day out. UC is a beautiful place, beautiful campus and I’m glad I got to share that moment with my teammates.

Saw you made the transition from Dixie heights to Lakota West this year. Talk about how that transition has been?

“Moving from Kentucky to Cincinnati has been a big change, but everyone at West has been welcoming to me and helped me if I had any problems. On the football side in the summer, I had to adjust a little bit to two a-days because they aren’t allowed in Kentucky, but other than that football is football most of the stuff doesn’t change.”

Barnette on his relationship with Lakota West head coach Tom Bolden

“Coach Bolden was one of the first people I met when I got to West. He’s a great coach and if I ever need anything at school or after practice, I’ll always ask coach.

Barnette on how he would describe his game

“I would say I’m a physical receiver with the speed and route running to get open against the best defensive backs. I would also like to add that I can play slot and outside receiver also I block and run the ball too honestly I will do anything if it means I can help my team win.”

Barnette talks about his recruiting process

“The recruiting process for me has been picking up recently since I got to West. In the past I’ve talked to EKU, Louisville and Miami (OH) but recently I started talking to UC. The process has been a good experience for me though overall.

What’s next for Barnette?

“I’m going to Miami on the 21st and EKU as well soon I haven’t set an exact date yet.”
