1. That was a fantastic display of offensive execution by the Cincinnati Bearcats Sunday afternoon. Everything was working for an offense that now has three straight games scoring 85 or more points with two of those games producing 90 points.
2. I’m trying to find the words to describe Dan Skillings Jr.’s performance, in regard to the fact that it came off the bench. His performance was so productive in so many areas: leading the team with 25 points, pulling down nine rebounds (second on the team to Viktor Lahkin’s 14) including six offensive and he shot 8-of-12 from the field including 3-of-5 from three-point range. He’s playing with confidence early in his second season, which is huge given the expectations that were bestowed upon him heading into the season.
3. Day Day Thomas continues to be the engine to this offense, and his efficiency Sunday afternoon was tremendous. He led all starters with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting including 2-of-5 from three-point range.
4. Simas Lukosius everything he did Sunday afternoon was effective. Seven assists, four rebounds, seven points, 28 minutes and that was all off the bench.
5. I’m all in on the frustration surrounding Aziz Bandaogo and Jamille Reynolds. But this team still has really good depth right now. With 40 points off the bench Sunday afternoon, this team has a number of really good players they can bring off the bench to help contribute whether it be in scoring, rebounding, dishing out assists, etc.
6. Viktor Lahkin is showing that his breakout season last year was a sign of things to stay and not just a one-year wonder. He’s now had back-to-back games with a double-double, and his rebounding is making an impact both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
7. Even on an off afternoon, Jizzle James still had an impactful performance. He only scored five points, but he had four assists and two rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench. How he rebounds from this off afternoon will go a long way in his first season with the Bearcats.
