This has been a long week for Bearcat fans and two time transfer forward/center Jamille Reynolds. On Wednesday, he was apart of the crew of young men that were granted a 14 day window to play, on Thursday the NCAA said that players that played during the window could lose a year of eligibility if reversed after the December 27th window and on Friday it was announced that the window was moved for the rest of the season without potential of losing a year of eligibility. If you want more details about all of these check out the articles we have posted this week, but now that Reynolds is eligible to play tonight against the Dayton Flyers let’s look at how adding the big man will impact this team moving forward.
The current big man rotation is Viktor Lakhin, Aziz Bandaogo and Ody Oguama. Before Bandaogo was granted eligibility Josh Reed was the third big man, but since Bandaogo is back Reed has found himself outside the rotation. With Reynolds coming back into the fold the person that will be effected most will be Oguama. I don’t think it will affect him to the same status it has Reed, but with the player the skill set of Reynolds it is going to have some trickle down effect. With four games left before Big 12 play starts I would expect Reynolds to see 8-15 mins a game to ramp up in game activity as well as getting back into game shape.
The 6’11”, 275 pound big man can score with his back to the basket, has a nice face up game that has expanded to the 3 point line and recorded the highest vertical jump on the team. What this does for the Bearcats front court? It gives them a lot versatility heading into Big 12 play. The foursome of Lakhin, Bandaogo, Oguama and Reynolds will be trouble for a lot teams moving forward and now the Bearcats will have 24 quality fouls to waste at the position which can’t be overlooked.
TFON is glad Milly is free and we look forward to see how he gels with the current Bearcats team.
