FRANKIE’S FAST BREAK REACTIONS: Bearcats Show Resilience in win in Big 12 Opener at BYU

7. Viktor Lahkin now has double-digit points in four straight games. Without Bandaogo, he has stepped up in a big way in the front court.

8. How about only one turnover from players off the bench? In that environment, that is really impressive.

9. The Bearcats deserve a lot of credit for their resiliency last night for overcoming a slow start falling behind 13-5 and an 11-0 first half BYU run that could have damaged the resolve the Bearcats were able to show last night. The Bearcats just kept hanging around and then pounced in the second half, outscoring BYU 47-29 in the final 20 minutes and 51-31 after being down 29-19 late in the first half.

10. The Big 12 is going to be war these next two months. Bearcats radio analyst Terry Nelson mentioned before the game last night how every game remaining for the Bearcats is going to be their biggest game of the season. This conference gauntlet truly is another season in the overall season.

11. The approach has to be one game at a time. You can’t look break the conference schedule down into three, four or five-game blocks. If you did that in the Big East days, you can’t do that now.

12. Any win in the Big 12 is massive. The Bearcats won’t play BYU again this regular-season, meaning they now own the tiebreaker over them when it comes time for seeding in the Big 12 Tournament. Based off last night’s win, I think a 5-8 seed and a first-round bye is realistically in play for the Bearcats.
