Per reports, Cincinnati defensive tackle Derrick Shepard has entered the transfer portal. The redshirt sophomore appeared in seven games during 2023 recording just four tackles and a TFL.
Sheppard was looking to fight for an increased role heading into the 2024 season following the departures of Malik Vann, Jowon Briggs, Daniel Grzesiak. However, with the additions of Mikah Coleman, and Darien Varner alongside returners Dontay Corleone and Eric Phillips, Jalen Hunt, who all had tremendous springs at that defensive tackle position. However, the Bearcats defensive end room was something that was a priority this offseason and now see a depth piece like Shepard enter the portal.
Shepard a former four star defensive tackle from Archbishop Altar high school in Dayton. Sheppard chose the Bearcats over Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Louisville, Pitt and many more.
However, the former four star defensive tackle will look for a new home following the conclusion of spring ball.
