Woods took some time to break down his recruitment in an exclusive 1-on-1 with TFON.
“I decided to commit to Cincinnati for many reasons,” Woods told TFON. “However, the biggest reason was how they treated me like a priority throughout the process. I loved being at Cincinnati even on my unofficial visit a couple months back. Then I came on my official visit in June and got a great feel of the culture surrounding the program. I instantly felt comfortable in that environment. It really felt like home. I can’t wait to see the new 134 million dollar facility they are building as well. I’m super excited for that.”
New defensive coordinator Tyson Veidt was the lead recruiter for the rising three star.
“Coach Veidt and I became really close when he got the job at Cincinnati,” said Woods. “He checks in on me and my family each and everyday and that really means a lot to me. He’s a coach that sees me playing all five defensive positions in the back half of their defensive in the new scheme.”
Woods will now come to Cincinnati and have the opportunity to work alongside respected defensive back guru Kerry Coombs as well. Now for Woods he was filled with excitement when asked about the opportunity to be coached under someone with such prestigious resume in the coaching world.
“I can’t wait to be coached by Coach Kerry,” Woods said. “Coach Coombs brings the fire and energy each and everyday and that is so contagious in many ways. I can’t wait to be coached by him and coach Veidt.”
Cincinnati’s 2025 recruiting class is currently sitting at 16 members following Woods commitment. However, Woods expressed his pure excitement for what is yet to come regarding the 2025 recruiting class and praised the staff for the job they are doing in year two.
“Cincinnati has been on a roll in the recruiting ranks currently,” Woods explained. “I feel like this class has the chance to do something very special in the next year or so.”
