Earlier in the week, Wes Miller and the Cincinnati staff welcomed in a slew of prospects to Clifton for unofficial visits. One of those visitors happened to be four-star power forward Alex Smith of Upper Arlington High School.
Smith, a 6’8″ 200-pound power forward is currently a junior at Upper Arlington High School just up the road in Columbus. Now for Smith, he has seen his recruitment jump this summer after a dominating spring and summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit with Midwest BC. He has recently picked up offers from Indiana, Kent State, Ohio, Toledo and more after a big summer.
Now for Smith he breaks down his visit to Cincinnati and where the Bearcats stand in his recruiting process in an exclusive interview with TFON.
“I had a great time on my visit to Cincinnati earlier this week,” Smith told TFON. “Wes Miller and his whole staff are a lot of fun to be around. The facilities were amazing as well. They showed nothing but great hospitality to me and my family while I was on my visit.”
Now, it is worth noting that Cincinnati is yet to offer the rising 2026 prospect to date. However, Smith said that Cincinnati has recently started to get involved in his recruitment over the recent weeks as he breaks down his relationship with Head Coach Wes Miller and assistant coach Andre Morgan.
“I have been in contact with Coach Miller and Coach Morgan,” Smith explained. “I’ve known them for a couple weeks, but to be honest, it feels like I have known them for a very long time. From the very first moment I stepped on campus with the staff and met them for the first time, it was like one of those old friend relationships, The relationship where you don’t see them often, but you consider them as one of your best friends. I think having that feeling after my visit is what made my trip down the road to Cincinnati really fun.”
