Bearcats G Day Day Thomas cleared for basketball activities

It was reported earlier tonight by CBS’s Jon Rothstein that Cincinnati senior point guard Day Day Thomas has been fully cleared for basketball activities.

Thomas suffered a broken foot during the San Francisco game in the opening round of the NIT Tournament that ultimately ended his 2023-2024 season.

However, Wes Miller noted during his preseason media availability back in May that the timeline for Thomas to return to activities at 100% was between mid-June and July after recovering from the broken foot.

Thomas averaged 10.4 points and 3.3 assists per game during his first year at Cincinnati, including a career high 29 points after going 7-10 from behind the arch in the Bearcats win over West Virginia in the opening round of the Big 12 championship.

This is huge news for Cincinnati as they now head into the 2024-2025 season with a fully healthy backcourt that will featuring rising sophomore Jizzle James, Thomas and Bradley transfer Connor Hickman.

Now for Cincinnati the veteran backcourt tandem now features three players with quality experience at the point guard position. Which, is something that Cincinnati relied heavily on Thomas and Jizzle James last season as both entered their first season at the Division one level.

Now how will Wes Miller utilize all three guards between Thomas, James and Hickman will be the question heading into the 2024-2025 season. But the question remains of how Miller will utilize all three abilities and different skillsets on both ends of the court.

However, this is great news for Bearcats fans after seeing Thomas’s game really develop over the final few weeks of the 2023-2024 season.
