Per GoBearcats:
Cincinnati’s Josh Kross was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2024 MLB Draft on Monday.
Kross is the 51st player in program history to be selected in the MLB Draft and the first since Evan Shawver in 2021. He is also the third Bearcat to be drafted in the top ten rounds since 2020, joining Shawver and 2020 fourth round selection Joey Wiemer. The 171st overall pick in the draft, Kross is the third-highest UC draftee in the last 40 years behind Wiemer and 2015 first round selection Ian Happ.
A First-Team All-Big 12 selection and an ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honoree in 2024, Kross left his mark on Cincinnati Baseball in his lone season with the program. He started all 57 games and hit .317 with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, 50 runs scored and a school-record 26 HBP. Kross’ 19 homers are tied for third-most in a season in school history, and his 65 RBI are tied for eighth-most in a season. His three-homer game at Saint Louis on March 22 tied the single-game school record.
He finished the season ranking second in the Big 12 in both home runs and RBI, and also ranked among the top ten in the league in slugging (.638) and OPS (1.076). He led UC with 22 multi-hit efforts and 19 multi-RBI performances.
