Front Office top 10 Point Guards

We finally have made it to the end, we have the done the Centers, Power Forwards, Small Forwards and Shooting Guards. Now we present the Point Guards. I know there will be some disagreeing but even all the players I picked didn’t make the list. If you have been checking out the other lists we still have the usual suspects( Me, Martel, Nate and Ron), check the list out and let us know what you think.

9. Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers, 6 pts– “Uncle Drew” is the best young point guard in the NBA. Irving has the ability to score and facilitate. Despite only playing a small amount of games during his freshman season at Duke, Irving was light years ahead of the players that were drafted in the same year. Irving’s ball-handling, basketball IQ, and ability to shoot the ball is what seperates him from the younger point guards of today. In less than five years Irving will be knocking on the door of the “Best PG in the NBA” spot.- Ron

9. John Wall, Washington Wizards, 6 pts– Wall is on the brink of becoming the next great point guard. He has all the skills but turnovers and suspect jumpers has held him back. You can probably blame a lot of his problem on his supporting cast. He did play with McGee, Blatche, and Young. Neither of them were consider very professional and neither of them are there anymore. Wall has some more veterans to play with this year and you should see his numbers improve. I expect a double double and possibly an all-star birth.- Martel

8. Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets, 8 pts– I wrote a piece on Ty a few months ago, but I was shocked he made the list the last few spots were up for grabs because there are so many legit young pgs in the league. Lawson has improved his stats each year in the league. He torched my Lakers during the playoffs doing whatever he wanted on the court. Lawson is the leader of the young Nuggets, the man is a one man fastbreak and can cause havoc on both sides of the court. If Lawson keeps on his current trend there is no reason he shouldn’t move up this list.- JT

7. Steve Nash, Los Angeles Lakers, 12 pts– The addition of Nash to the Lakers is encouraging. He’s been one of the best shooters and dime droppers in the league for the last few years. Pair his creative offensive skills with those of Kobe, Pau and Bynum and opposing teams have a problem, inside and outside the paint.- Nate

6. Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs, 20 pts– TP is the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA. Parker has been a consistent piece for the San Antonio Spurs for about a decade and people still fail to realize how great of a player he is. Parker is the engine behind the Spurs success in the this day and age. The uptempo pace has replaced the boring style that was endorsed by the Spurs. Last season was arguably Tony Parker’s best season and will look to build upon his success this upcoming season. – Ron

5. Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics, 24 pts– Rondo gets the most criticism out of all the point guards on the list. They say he can’t shoot, they say he’s only that good because of who he plays with, but somehow he seems to dominate games. He’s the biggest triple double threat behind Lebron and he’s the best pressure defender in the league. As the years have gone by the big three turned into the big four. Rondo is slowly transitioning into the face of the Celtics and this year might be the year it becomes official.- Martel

4. Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder, 26 pts– Him and D. Rose are the same kind of athlete prior to the Rose injury. Russell Marbury is a force to be reckoned with he can get to the rim at will and has a real nice pull up jumpshot. The knock on Westbrook is he has a tendency not to pass as much as he should. His scoring went up this year and his assist went down. Westbrook can move up this list in the future it just depends on if he can find a better pass to shot attempt ratio.- JT

3. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls, 34 pts– Unfortunately Derrick Rose is going to miss a large portion of the NBA regular season, but hopefully he comes back in time to gear up for the playoffs. No point guard is as explosive, nor can score and create as well as he does for the Bulls. His game will be missed.- Nate

2. Deron Williams, Brooklyn Nets, 36 pts– Deron Williams is arguably the best point guard in the NBA.  Williams has the ability to score as well as the ability to play as a pass first point guard as well. D. Will and the Brooklyn Nets are revamped and are poised to make a strong playoff run in the Eastern Conference. Williams has a new weapon in Joe Johnson that will allow Williams to flourish even more.- Ron

1. Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers, 39 pts– point guard might be the deepest position in the NBA and Paul is the prototypical point. He’s always at the top of the league in assist and steals. He’s has great vision and really makes his teammates better. He has the ability to take over the scoring load when need to and he’s the reason people put the Clippers in the conversations of contender.- Martel
