FO Recap: OSU Spring Game @ Paul Brown Stadium

The Ohio State Buckeyes had their annual spring game this Saturday. This year they brought their show on road down to Cincinnati at the Bengals Paul Brown Stadium. There were 37,000 plus on hand to watch the Scarlet vs Gray. The turnout was solid and to play a spring game at a NFL has to be nice for the players and future recruits.

  • Sophomores Defensive Ends Adolphus Washington and Noah Spence got to the QB a lot during the spring game. Both players look like they will make a lot of noise during the season. I wouldn’t be shocked if both make All Big Ten first or second team this year.
  • Junior QB Braxton Miller looked 10xs better as a passer. I know this was pretty much a glorified practice but the touch Brax showed on his throws were much better than his previous years. There were two throws that impressed me the most: one was the first touchdown of the game to Devin Smith when he rolled to his right to buy time in hit Smith in stride in the end zone and the second happened on a post route that I believe hit Smith again in stride. We know the Bucks will be able to run the ball so if Brax is able to keep the defense honest with his arm sky is the limit.
  • Sophomore WR Mike Thomas had a solid game, at times his route running could be a little bit better but you can see the potential.
  • Junior LB Curtis Grant made a lot of tackles which is a good sign with all of the starters the defense lost.
  • The Buckeyes have a lot of young talent in the secondary behind the their experienced starters, keep an eye on Eli Apple and Cam Burrows.
