For those of you who are unfamiliar, Carlos Hyde is THE starting tailback at THE Ohio State University. The Buckeyes have been relying on the talents of No.34 for the past two seasons. And for those who have been living under a rock, the Bucks have won 19 straight games.
Although the Buckeyes have Braxton Miller who is a superstar, Carlos Hyde is the engine that makes the Buckeyes go. Going back to last season when Hyde finally received the the opportunity to start full time, and he did not disappoint. Despite missing a few games due to knee issues, Hyde still finished the season with 17 total touchdowns, to go along with 970 yards.
Hyde’s numbers don’t match a lot of the feature backs in college football, but there isn’t a back that I will take over him at the moment. This season Hyde has bounced back from a three game suspension, and is averaging over 100 yars per game. It seems like as the season goes on Hyde gets better.
Hyde is a bruising back that has the ability to make the big play in the open field. When defenses play against Hyde for four quarters they wear down when the game matters most. With Braxton Miller at the helm along with Devin Smith and Philly Brown on the outside, Hyde is the perfect compliment that works well with the spread offense ran by Urban Meyer and Tom Herman.
The Buckeyes are coming into the crucial part of the season and Hyde will be needed more than ever. As long as Hyde gets around 20-25 touches a game that zero should remain in the loss column. I
If the Buckeyes continue to ride the undefeated wave to the National Championship, Columbus, Ohio, and Buckeye fans across the world will have to thank the running back from Naples, Florida.
