It’s tourney time again and everybody is preparing to fill out a bracket. Warren Buffett upped the ante by issuing the Billion Dollar Bracket Challenge and now everyone has even more motivation to fill out that bracket besides the normal office glory. No, I don’t have the insight on selecting the perfect bracket, but I could maybe help you win your office pool.
The key to winning your pool this year just like every year is getting the most final four picks. Every 12th seed could beat a 5th seed while a 16th seed could dance all the way to the sweet sixteen. None of it will mater as long as you have all four final four participants correct. Now I can’t tell you who that final four will be, but I can tell you one thing, and that’s even though sixty eight teams get in only 10 teams ever really have a chance to win. This year’s no different and those ten teams are as followed.
Florida Gators- A dominant run through the SEC and four seniors give the Gators a great opportunity to win it all.
Arizona Wildcats- Probably the best team all season, hit a small slump when they lost Brandon Ashley, but they have adjusted and gotten back on track.
Kansas Jayhawks- Probably the most talented team in the country with three guaranteed NBA players and two other possibles. The only question will be Joel Embiid health.
Wichita State Shockers- A final four participant last year that went undefeated this year is a serious threat to win it all.
Louisville Cardinals- Defending national champion with Russ Smith and last year’s MOP of the final four. The Cards will be ready.
Michigan Wolverines- Last year’s runner up has a young team who is playing their best ball without one of there best players in Mitch McGary.
Michigan State Spartans – Have struggled as of late, but Izzo will always have his team ready for the tournament. Tom has never had a senior class not make a final four and this is senior class last chance.
North Carolina Tar Heels- Before the Duke loss, UNC was one of the hottest teams in the country. They have shown they could beat the top teams in the country by being the first school to beat the pre season top four.
Duke Blue Devils- They have the best offense in the country and a deadly one-two punch in Parker and Hood. Coach K is no stranger to the final four.
Connecticut Huskies- Is similar to the 2011 Championship team. They both are led by do it all point guards and like Kemba Walker, Shabazz Napier is good enough to take his team to the promise land.
I can almost guarantee that three of these teams will be in the final four. You will of course have that one surprise team that makes that improbable run to the final four, but I’ve done my part by limiting your choices. You’re welcome.
