At the beginning of the tournament UConn and UK were not the popular picks to play in the final game of the season. I wonder how many people picked this matchup in the Warren Buffett challenge. The only people who have fifty percent of this matchup picked correctly on their brackets are diehard Huskie and Wildcat fans.
Both teams had different paths to the promise land. The Wildcats were expected to be this good at the beginning of the season, but the season didn’t go as planned they struggled throughout the season. A lot of people were starting to deem this season a bust for the Wildcats, but something clicked during the SEC Tournament where they played the Gators for a third time and they lost narrowly. UK have been in nail biters the last four games (Wichita St., Louisville, Michigan, Wisconsin) which obviously they won each one that’s why they are here. Aaron Harrison is made of ice because the last two games he’s made the game winning shot after not playing good until the end of the game.
The Huskies didn’t have high expectations coming into the season. They were just happy to have a shot at the tourney after not being eligible during ’13 because of academic reasons. UConn had been solid all season, but many didn’t see them making the final game. When you have a great backcourt that can create for themselves and others you always have a shot to win in the tourney. Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright have been giving other teams fits all March. This has been a coming out party for Napier and Coach Kevin Ollie. Has Shabazz turned into Kemba Walker before our eyes?
With two teams in National Championship game that nobody had pinned here who do you think will win? It’s hard to sway either way, but I’m rolling with the Huskies, either way this game will be good.
Let us know who you rollin’ with on Monday night!
