Many casual basketball fans were surprised about the show Jeff Teague put on this past weekend in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Teague put up 28 points and dropped 5 dimes in the opening game against the Indiana Pacers. The Atlanta Hawks are a solid team, and Teague has been the engine behind their success despite Paul Millsap being the team’s only All-Star.
Teague has outplayed Kyrie Irving and several other point guards in head to head battles this season. The Hawks are not a basketball hotbed, so they don’t get a lot of television time. To the casual fan Teague is a newbie, but he has been playing at a high level for a long time. Jeff Teague is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, and at the rate he is going his name, game, and fame will continue to grow.
The Indiana Pacers will have their hands full with Teague, due to them not having a point guard that can take on the duties of guarding Teague. The Pacers may have to call on their “superstar” Paul George to try to contain Teague. The Hawks are a match up problem for the Pacers, and they will look to continue their tough play against the No.1 seed. The Pacers are having their own issues within the locker room, and it doesn’t help they have another headache, and that is trying to stop Jeff Teague.
