Bryce Petty of the Baylor Bears may be the best quarterback in all of college football, but he doesn’t garner enough national attention. Despite his play on the field and video game like stats Petty is rarely brought up in comparison to Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. Petty helped the Bears to an 11-2 record under his first season as a starter. In his first season Petty was the Big 12 player offensive player of the year throwing for 4,200 yards to go along with 32 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions.
Head coach Art Briles will expect the Bears to be in contention to make the college football playoffs as well as Petty being a candidate to hoist up the Heisman Trophy. Petty will have all eyes on him this season — and he will look to take his game to a new level. It may be tough to duplicate the performance he put up last season, but if anyone can be up for an encore performance then it is Petty.
Last season Petty didn’t receive an invitation to New York to be a part of the Heisman Trophy festivities. This year it should be expected that Petty should not only be in attendance, but he should be have a legit chance to take the trophy back to Waco, Texas. The college football season is just around the corner, and Heisman voters better be ready, because Petty is getting ready to make a lot of noise.
