I was recently allowed some time to ask Northern Kentucky Norse forward/center Jalen Billups a few questions. Billups is a redshirt junior from Cincinnati. Billups is currently averaging 9.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 1.2 bpg.
JB= Jalen Billups
JS= Jesse Smith
JS= How do you like playing so close to home (Cincinnati native)?
JB= I love it just because my family can come to all the games and I can go home whenever I need to.
JS= How are you so effective despite giving up size on a night in and night out basis?
JB= I’m pretty much just as athletic as them, somewhat just as strong, but I try to use my speed and smartness to see what they are weak at in attack that every-time.
JS= Are there any players past or present that you try to model your game around?
JB= Charles Barkley because he was so undersized and a go getter, I model my game off of him.
JS= Are you excited for (Atlantic Sun) conference play?
JB= Of course, they picked us I think fifth in the league, and we aren’t going to be fifth I know we are much better than that. We are going to surprise this whole league.
JS= What does Jalen do for fun?
JB= It just depends on how I’m feeling, but mostly listening to music or salsa dancing.
Good luck to Jalen and the Norse for the rest of the season.
