I recently was spared a few minutes to talk to freshman guard Tayler Persons. Persons is currently the Norse leading scorer and assist man. Persons is averaging 12.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.7 apg and 1.2 spg.
TP= Tayler Persons
JS= Jesse Smith
JS= What was the biggest adjustment from playing high school to college basketball?
TP= The biggest adjustment was the speed of the game.
JS= What attracted you to come to NKU?
TP= The campus, coaches, how close it is to Cincinnati, it is a good small town, but its not far from a big city. To be able to start a legacy here at a new D-1 school and hopefully be able to lead them to the tournament.
JS= Are there any players past or present that you try to model your game around?
TP= I try to be my own player, but I like the way Larry Bird use to lead, I like Lance Stepenson, how hard he plays the game, I like LeBron, but that’s everyone’s answer, but Lance plays hard even though he might be out of control at times (that’s how I am sometimes).
JS= Are you excited about (Atlantic Sun) conference play?
TP= I’m very excited. I feel like have a very good chance to be very good, we’ve put in a lot hard work and its starting to pay off. We are starting to gel together even after a few losses.
JS= What does Tayler like to do for fun?
TP= I’m a movie guy, I see all the new movies and chill with my friends. I try to enjoy the off time with sleep, I’m a sleeper, but that’s about it.
Good luck to Tayler and the Norse for the rest of the season.
