Northern Kentucky Norse making positive strides in the Atlantic Sun

The Norse are almost done with their third year in Division 1 and for those who don’t pay attention this program seems to be heading in the right direction. Coach Bezold has been doing a great job in getting players who play hard for a full 40 minutes win or lose. With this being my first year covering the Norse I didn’t know what to expect, but honestly watching these kids on a normal basis all of them seem to work hard and with each game seem to be building a great foundation.

This year the Norse are 12-16 overall and 6-7 in conference with one game left on the regular season docket. If the Norse can win on Saturday they have a chance to host their first Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament game. They are currently tied with Lipscomb for the fourth in conference. This year is the first year the Norse can play in the Atlantic Sun Tournament so this is a win in itself and to have a chance to host a game in their first year eligible would be huge for the program.

After the 2015-16 the Norse will finally be eligible for the NCAA tournament and if they can keep building on recent success they may have a chance to make a tournament sooner than later.

In the 2013-14 season the Norse were 9-21 overall and 5-13 in conference, this year they had less in conference games, but have a way better winning percentage in conference this year which is a hell of a positive to build on. The fans will build each year as they will notice the rise of this problem. If they can host a conference tournament game next week it will be a huge feather in the Norse cap.

Notes:

Make sure you support the seniors (Chad Jackson and Jordan Jackson) on Saturday.
