The AP revealed its first poll of the season and of course the defending National Champions were number one and rightfully so, but what I was checking for was to see if any AAC teams made the top 25 list.
Unfortunately none of the AAC made the list, but the Cincinnati Bearcats were ranked 33rd and received 8 votes. Of the 19 teams who received votes outside of the Top 25 the Bearcats were the only American team to get any.
Does this mean the Bearcats are the early front runners for the AAC Championship? Yes, it does at least by the AP Poll. Are they correct? Maybe, because UC has one of the best offenses in College Football.
With the strength of the Bearcats schedule, they will have a chance to crack the Top 25 very soon if they can win a few quality games (Miami (FL) and BYU out of conference).
With the Bearcats being ranked higher than other AAC teams this puts a big bull’s-eye on their back to start the 2015. Will they be able to handle the added attention? Only time will tell.
