College Football: NCAA needs to adjust targeting rule

The targeting penalty in college football is out of control. We understand it has been set in place to limit injuries and increase the safety of its players, but it is affecting the game negatively. I’ve seen a few players this season including Texas Tech defensive back Jah’Shawn Johnson a few days ago being penalized and disqualified from games for what look like normal defensive plays. It almost takes on the feel of a holding penalty which could literally be called every play, but rarely is. Injuries happen in the game without contact see Nick Chubb. These young men are asked to make plays on the ball in a split second. I agree that there is a distinct difference between spearing or using the crown of your helmet and just completing a good hit/tackle. Check out the video and see if you think this was anything other than a normal tackle.
