Alabama’s Jalen Hurts to redshirt, opens door for transfer!

Now that sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa been named the starting quarterback by Nick Saban news has broken that junior quarterback Jalen Hurts will redshirt.

Hurts has been the starter since he hit campus, but after a heroic comeback by Tagovailoa in the National Championship game to beat Georgia most knew Hurts time as the lead man was numbered. He battled Tagovailoa during spring and fall ball and even played some against Louisville, but it was clear that he was going to be the odd man out after watching them play last week.

Back in April Hurts father said, “if his son didn’t win the job he would be the biggest free agent in college football history”. He is set to graduate in December so he will have two years of eligibility left because of the redshirt and barring an injury to Tagovailoa I don’t see Hurts needing to play.
