This morning it was reported that Urban Meyer is retiring after the Ohio State Buckeyes face the Washington Huskies in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Meyer has the Buckeyes 12-1 overall and fresh off of a Big Ten Championship. He has a record of 82-9 since touching down in Columbus he’s only lost four Big Ten games total and has won a National Championship (2014). With the how the fall went for Meyer with the Zach Smith scandal which caused him to miss the first three games and his health in general it doesn’t shock me that he has to retire. After seeing him on the sideline against Maryland a game Ohio State barely won, I didn’t know if he was going to survive the game. Offensive coordinator Ryan Day got the keys to the car during the three game suspension and won all three games. With Day being a respected offensive mind in football it makes sense he will be the head coach of the Buckeyes next season. The transition should be smooth and they will be able to keep most of their recruits which is the name of the game.
BREAKING: Urban Meyer will announce his retirement as Ohio State’s football coach today. Athletic director Gene Smith to appoint Ryan Day the 25th head coach in the history of the program.

Congrats to Ryan Day and get healthy Urban Meyer. Maybe #BearcatNation will see you are a lot of your son’s baseball games this upcoming season?
What are your thoughts on Meyer retiring? And the hiring of Day?
