Thoughts On Bearcats win over Tulane

Yes, you can say that it was another underperforming game by the sixth-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats football last Saturday against the Tulane Green Wave. All it matters is that the Bearcats came out with a 31-12 victory to remain undefeated this season at 8-0 (4-0 in the AAC).

Notes:

  • Desmond Ridder played better than he did against Navy going 17-of-27 passing for 227 yards, three touchdowns and one interception He also had 13 carries from the ground for 47 yards including a 37-yard run to set up a touchdown.
  • Jerome Ford had 18 carries for 65 yards one touchdown run and also four catches for 42 yards and a touchdown from 30 yards out for the dagger.
  • Josh Whyle had another great game for the second consecutive week he caught two touchdown receptions.
  • The defense was good overall. Joel Dublanko, Mailk Vann and Darrian Beavers led the way.
  • Ja’von Hicks and Coby Bryant each had an interception.

The Bearcats however were screwed over by the College Football Playoff Committee in this first edition of the playoff rankings that came out on Tuesday. UC found themselves at No. 6 looking above teams like Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan State. It’s a shame on us that we thought this year was going to be different.

The next game is this coming up Saturday against Tulsa at 3:30 pm on ESPN2. It’s homecoming and ESPN College GameDay makes their first appearance ever to the campus so Clifton is going to be bonkers regardless of how deservedly so mad Bearcats fans are with the playoff rankings.
