WBB: 2025 5 star Dee Alexander commits to Cincinnati

Moments ago, local five star wing Dee Alexander announced her commitment to Katrina Merriweather and the Bearcats.

Alexander, a 6-1 wing is currently ranked the 6th player in the class of 2025 according to many recruiting sites. The talented junior has led Purcell Marian to three consecutive state championships, across the Division II and III level.

She was also named Ms. Ohio basketball for the second consecutive season where she became just the 7th player in the State of Ohio to accomplish such feat.

Alexander finished the 2023-2024 season averaging nearly 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the Cavaliers this past season.

However, not only can Alexander alter the game on the offensive end, she’s a lockdown defender as well. She plays with great physicality, size, IQ and more. However, Alexander is not only a dynamic offensive threat, but she has also shown that she can be an elite defender with the abilities to guard any player on the court no matter the position.

Since Merriweather and the staff came to Cincinnati back in March of 2023, they made it a priority to keep Alexander home in Cincinnati. One year later, Merriweather and the staff were able to seal the deal making her first big splash on the recruiting trail in just her first year at the Helm of Cincinnati’s Woman’s Basketball Program.

However, it is worth noting that Alexander instantly becomes the highest rated recruit to ever wear the C-Paw across the chest between both men’s and woman’s basketball programs.

This is a massive victory for Katrina Merriweather and the Bearcats. Since the jump, Cincinnati’s staff have been all hands on deck for the local phenom. It’s also worth noting that Merriweather and three Cincinnati assistants were in attendance as Purcell Marian captured their third consecutive state title in March after defeating Laurel High School 79-52.

Alexander chose the Bearcats over reigning national champions South Carolina, UConn, Iowa, Ohio State, Illinois, Texas, Tennessee, USC, LSU and many more.
