Cincinnati Bearcats junior guard Jarron Cumberland earned American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for his play last week and it marks the fifth consecutive ween he has received accolades from the conference. The Bearcats went 1-1 this week otherwise Cumberland would’ve won Player of the Week again.
Cumberland averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals last week.

University of Cincinnati’s Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington High School) was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, marking the fifth consecutive week the junior guard has been recognized by the league.
In all, Cumberland has been honored by the AAC seven times this season, more than any other player in the conference with a league-high four player of the week awards and three honor roll selections.
Cumberland scored 17 points, including nine of UC’s last 11 points in the final 2:16 to help the Bearcats to a 69-64 road win at Memphis on Thursday. It gave Memphis only their second home loss this season with the other setback coming to top-ranked Tennessee.Cumberland poured in a game-high 27 points with four threes as Cincinnati went toe-to-toe with No. 12 Houston on the road Sunday, before falling 65-58. The effort in Houston marked Cumberland’s AAC-best 12th 20-point game of the season. It also marks the most 20-point games in a season at Cincinnati since Sean Kilpatrick tallied 19 during the 2013-14 campaign.
Cumberland leads all conference scorers averaging 22.2 points during league action. He has led the Bearcats in scoring in 10 of 11 AAC games, including each of the last eight contests. He is also listed among league leaders during AAC play in minutes played (fourth at 35.2), three-pointers made (tied for fifth at 2.6), assists (seventh at 4.0), assist-to-turnover ratio (seventh at 1.5), three-point percentage (13th at .382), free throw percentage (tied for 13th at .750), and rebounds (18th at 5.5).
For the season, Cumberland is averaging 19.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 42.4 percent (61 of 144) from three-point range. His 61 three-pointers in 2018-19 mark a single-season high for the junior guard.
Cumberland has been recognized by The American each of the previous four weeks. He was named to the AAC’s Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 4 and Jan. 14 while being chosen as The American’s Player of the Week on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28.
Cumberland was named one of 10 nominees for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year award last week; was tabbed to the Lute Olson Player of the Year Award Mid-Season Watch List in January; and garnered first team All-AAC accolades by the league coaches in the preseason.
