Bearcat twitter went crazy yesterday when video showed the new noise meter back in the freshly renovated Fifth Third Arena. I personally don’t remember when the original meter was removed, but I remember looking up in the old Fifth Third Arena a few times and noticing it wasn’t there. I also realized it wasn’t in the new arena, but because of how great the renovation was I didn’t even think to pry about the meter.

The meter is important because is a great gauge to help the Bearcats out. When playing at home the Bearcats have only had one loss and that was against Ohio State “reopening” night. Pulling off 17 wins in a row you would think the arena is always blistering loud? Wrong, two games ago senior guard Cane Broome and junior forward Trevon Scott pleaded with the crowd to bring it during the home stretch. Head coach Mick Cronin has been on record stating he wanted more from the home crowd around the same time that video was cut. After the UCF game Broome, Justin Jenifer and Cronin thanked the crowd for stepping up.
With 86 wins and counting over the last three years I can see how fans can get complacent. Winning for the Bearcats has become second nature to this program. So, fans cheer on the Bearcats, with the meter back you have to put the HOME in home court advantage and if you don’t the meter will be there to gauge you.
