Bearcats land favorable draw in the AAC tournament netting No. 2 seed

Life is all about moving forward to the next day, don’t get to high, don’t get to low when things are going great and when they are bad. With that being said Senior Day didn’t go as planned for Cincinnati as Houston came into Fifth Third Arena and had their way with the home team. Losing to a top tier team like Houston has fans upset and I can see in the fashion they lost being troublesome, but they have to look at it as one game. They had a chance for a share of the American Athletic Conference with a win, but that didn’t happen Cincinnati has to look at the conference tournament and see if they can put their stamp on it.

With the No. 2 seed now has a smoother path to defend its AAC Tournament Championship from last season. In the Quarterfinals they would face the winner of (No. 7) Tulsa/(No. 10) SMU they are 3-0 against the two teams this season, it would be hard to beat a team for a third time in a row(Tulsa), but it is possible. If they win that game they would face a combination of (No. 3)Temple, (No. 6) Wichita State or (No. 11) ECU. They have a record of 3-1 against those three teams only losing to ECU on the road which was the worst loss of the season for this squad. Like Tulsa, they could have to face Wichita State for a third time this season come Saturday if things work out. If they win two games they would be in the championship against either (No. 1) Houston or (No. 4) UCF not discounting USF, UConn, Memphis and Tulane, but that’s just how I view it. UC split against UCF and lost both games against Houston, could Houston beat Cincinnati for a third time? Yes, but it is super hard to beat a quality team three times in one season. Could UC beat UCF on a neutral floor? Yes, but if Tacko Fall isn’t in foul trouble it makes that task that much harder.

It won’t be easy, but Cincinnati has a shot to return to the AAC Championship game and depending on the basketball gods they could have a weakened Houston or UCF in the final game. For as bad as Senior Day was for this team, maybe by Sunday #BearcatNation will turn their frowns upside down?
