The Cincinnati Bearcats have a brief layoff before this ever-important final run of the season in February/March. With this layoff lets take a look at the remaining schedule and try and guess how this Bearcats squad might end up.
As it stands right now the Bearcats are 12-7, not great, but 5-2 and currently in 3rd place behind 5-1 Tulsa, and 5-1 Houston in a “wiiiide” open American Athletic Conference. This entire season has been such a roller coaster of emotions, and it’s a season unlike any I can remember going through in recent memory as a Bearcats fan. Lose to Bowling Green and Colgate, beat Tennessee. Lose to Tulane, beat UCONN, Tulsa, ECU by 1 million points. Now more than ever feels like a good time for the Bearcats to find the consistency that has alluded them all year, and I *think* that is what we are seeing now. They have went 4-1 in their last five games and play some of the best basketball all season. The lone loss was a Memphis game on the road that was officiated more like a football game and a game which the Cats missed an absurd amount of shots around the rim. Besides that loss, they have a 31(!!!) point win against 1st place Tulsa, 14 point road win at UCF, 25 point win over ECU, and a 7 point road win at Temple which saw Brannen’s squad reach the highest point total, 89, of the season thus far. THAT my friends, is consistent basketball.
