It wasn’t pretty, but Cincinnati secures 70-67 OT win at ECU

After a huge come from behind win against Memphis, Cincinnati had to travel to Greenville, North Carolina to face East Carolina. Cincinnati’s last two games have been overtime games could they secure a tough American Athletic Conference road win inside the first 40 minutes?

This game was about turnovers and free throws as Cincinnati committed 22 turnovers and shot 5-of-16 from the line, no that isn’t a typo they shot 31.6% from the line. Timely shooting from three (7-of-17) see the two big shots made by Keith Williams and Zach Harvey late in regulation and overtime, winning the battle on the glass 41 to 34 and shooting 50.9% from the field is the reason Cincinnati was able to win on the road.

Jarron Cumberland fouled out in regulation, but had 13 points and four assists. All five of the starters scored double digits led by Williams with 17 points, four rebounds, five assists and a huge overtime. Tre Scott continued his dominance with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Chris Vogt had 13 points and seven rebounds. Mika Adams-Woods had 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Harvey was the only bench player to score and he knocked down a clutch three to help Cincinnati force overtime.

While they will have to clean up the turnovers and the free throw shooting, a win is a win especially on the road and after winning 70-67 Cincinnati is 17-8 overall and 10-3 in the AAC. They will face UCF at home on Wednesday.
