JS: How excited were you to get an offer from Cincinnati?
MJ: I was pretty excited, Coach (Tim) Morris and Coach (John) Brannen have been building a relationship with me. For them to give me an offer to play for them and Cincinnati was great.
JS: Once stuff clears up, do you see yourself visiting?
MJ: I plan on visiting once everything clears up. Me and Coach Morris talked about getting to campus before all of this happened. So, I’m sure we will figure out a date after all of this stuff calms down.
JS: Which coaches on the staff have you been in touch with? How is the relationship with the UC staff?
MJ: I’ve mainly been in contact with Coach Morris. He came to see me before the season in a workout and we’ve had a good relationship ever since.
JS: Do you like Cincinnati’s style of play?
MJ: Yes, I’m intrigued by Cincinnati’s style of play. I can see myself fitting well in that type of system.
JS: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game? Is there anybody on the UC team that reminds you of yourself?
MJ: I would say, I’m a guy that gives 100% and plays hard all the time on the floor. Versatile can play multiple positions, guard multiple positions, I like to get to the paint and have a good (improving) outside shot. I see a lot of Keith Williams in myself from the current team.
JS: With the unexpected down time, what have you been able to do to workout and exc.?
MJ: I’ve gotten to get into the weigh room a lot, working on my strength and explosiveness. I’ve also been able to get some gym time to really tighten up on things I need to work on for AAU season if or when it rolls around.
JS: Do you have a time frame when you want to commit? What are you looking for in a university?
MJ: I don’t have a time frame. My fit into the current system. How I’ll become a better player once I get there and a coach that has my best interest on and off the court.
