Saturday Night Basketball down in Georgia as the 2-3 Cincinnati Bearcats traveled to the 5-0 Georgia Bulldogs. Would the Bearcats get back on the winning track after losing to USF on Wednesday?
Georgia came in with a very fast-paced offense and it proved to be deadly to the Bearcats in the first half. Georgia killed them inside and got production from three as they shot 55% from the field and 2-of-6 from three. The Bearcats struggled shooting the ball in the first as they had a dreadful 33% from the field. They got in trouble trying to shoot the three in the first half as they went 2-of-16 from three and caused Georgia to go on a 15-0 run to end the half. Turnovers killed the Bearcats as they had 13 turnovers in the first half. On the bright side they were able to force 12 turnovers on their behalf as they were active in the comeback trail. DeJulius was the leading scorer for the Bearcats at the half as he had seven points and two rebounds. Keith Williams only had six points and a rebound in the first half and the Bearcats were stumbling trying to get back into the game.
The Bearcats did get some momentum back to begin the second half as Freshman Tari Eason created a couple of blocks and forced turnovers to cut the lead down to 12, but the Bearcats could not pull even as they did not shoot the ball well at all in this game and tried to shoot the 3 ball way too much. The Bearcats shot 38% for the whole game and shot 5-of-29 from the three point line. There were some bright spots for the Bearcats as Jeremiah Davenport continued his hot streak as he led all Bearcats scorers with 18 points on top of being tied for the leading rebounder on the Bearcats with Eason with six. Eason had a great game as he had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. The freshman has been great this year and has done a wonderful job for the Bearcats. Unfortunately, for the Bearcats they will fall to 2-4 with the 83-68 loss and will pick it up again on Tuesday at UCF as they go back into conference play.
