Yesterday, the Bearcats volleyball team were hit with the news that two players received all conference honors. Junior outside Maria Mallon earned her 3rd conference selection since coming to the University of Cincinnati in 2018. Mallon received first team all conference honors in 2018, 2019. Mallon who missed the first few games for the Bearcats this season didn’t waste no time at all when she returned to action for the Bearcats when they took on East Carolina University and recorded a match high 21 kills and 23 digs. In the 23 sets in conference play Mallon led the team in kills with 77 on 234 attack attempts, averaging 3.35 kills per set. Maria Mallon also recorded seven service aces with her jump serve on 82 attempts which is good for .30 service aces per set. Mallon also recorded the 2nd most digs for the Bearcats behind libero Payton Frederick where she recorded 86 digs averaging 3.74 digs per set. Mallon was the Bearcats leading scorer as she led the team in points with 88.5 which was good for 3.85 points per set.
Maria Mallon will look to earn her 4th conference honor her senior year when the team returns to action this fall. The Front Office News would like to congratulate Maria on her tremendous season for the Bearcats.
