The Cincinnati Bearcats welcome in Miami of Ohio this weekend to begin the season. This season the stakes are at an all-time high and the Cincinnati Bearcats are looking to change the narrative of the G5 and put their name on the map. The Bearcats will have a hard couple of tasks ahead of them this upcoming season with tough matchups on the road against Notre Dame and Indiana while also playing tough conference opponents in UCF and Memphis. With the season only one day away it’s time to take a look and see what the Bearcats could run out there on offense to begin the season.
To start it off will take a look at the offensive line starters. The line will consist of a couple of new names and familiar as it seems that John Williams (R-Fr) and Dylan O’Quinn (Jr) will man the tackle position while on the inside we will see Vincent McConnell (Sr), Jeremey Cooper (Jr) and back at the center position where he made such a huge impact Jake Renfro (SO). Filling in behind these guys will be James Tunstall (Jr), Colin Woodside (Jr), Cody Lamb (Sr), Lorenz Metz (Jr), Cam Jones (So) and Gavin Gerhardt (R-Fr) .
Then taking a look at the rest of the offense they will run out senior quarterback Desmond Ridder to lead the offense. Ridder is coming off an exceptional season where he had numerous first-team honors in the AAC and really stepped up to lead this Cincinnati offense to an American Athletic Championship. He will be backed up by Evan Prater in his second year with the program.
In the backfield, the Bearcats will hand the keys to Jerome Ford. Ford has had a great camp and will be looking to take over what Gerrid Doaks had started last year. Behind him will be junior Charles McClelland who is coming off an injury-riddled season, but will more than likely step into the backup role and pass-catching back. Behind him will be junior Ryan Montgomery and sophomore Ethan Wright. Both of them had exceptional camps will be a key contributor to not only the offense, but special teams as well.
