TFON speaks with ATH Malik Hartford about UC visit and more

JS: Congratulations on the offer how does it feel to get an offer from a Top 10 program at the moment?

MH: It feels great, almost not real. It’s just crazy to think all my work is starting to pay off in such a big way.

JS: How has your experience with the coaching staff been so far?

MH: Great, I keep in contact with them every day and truly seems like they care about me as an individual and want the best for me no matter how this all shakes out.

JS: Being from Lakota West and from Ohio how did it feel to see the crowd and all the fans in the stand screaming?

MH: Seeing all the fans in the crowd was definitely cool especially because I could just walk around and see people I know. It makes me think that all my friends and family will be able to come to my games and watch me play which would definitely be an amazing experience.

JS: What made you want to play football and why is the sport important to you?

MH: My dad got me into football and from the jump, I’ve always been one of the best players on every team I played for I don’t play because I’m good at it, I play because I love the game, I love the brotherhood and the relationships I make with both my coaches and teammates. Football teaches me life lessons that I can’t even comprehend yet and I know that those lessons will help me go far in life. Football just pulls everything together for me, honestly can’t imagine a life without it.

JS: What are your goals for this upcoming football season and what are your goals for yourself overall in the future?

MH: This season, I just want to show everybody the type of football player I really am and prove all the doubters wrong especially after missing the last five games last year due to a broken collarbone, Overall, I want to continue improving as a player and make it to the big stage because that’s where I feel I truly belong. I want to take the weight off my parent’s shoulders by getting scholarships and get a great degree.

JS: What can a coaching staff and program expect out of you?

MH: They can expect me to come in every day and get better. I’m a hard worker. I’m a great teammate and I give maximum effort both on and of the field.

JS: What do you plan to work on this upcoming season and in the off-season to take your game to the next level?

MH: I’m gonna work on my coverage technique and really try to be a lockdown defender anytime I have to match up against a receiver. Other than that I just need to get my weight up so I can compete at a higher level.

TFON staff wants to thank Malik for sitting down and chatting with us and we look forward to watching you this season!
