I’ll start with the interception By Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner on the first drive, The Irish was driving and seemed to have something figured out early as they were utilizing the former Covington Catholic star Michael Mayer as Mayer had four catches for 32 yards on the first drive. The Bearcats brought some pressure from Myjai Sanders and Darrin Beavers to force Jack Coan to throw an interception that fell into the arms, that’s right of Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. This was a huge play early by the Bearcats defense as the Irish were looking to make an early statement, but the defense stood tall and showed why they are one of the best defenses in the country. This was a big play early on as it was in the red zone and that’s where the Bearcats defense excels.
