I asked Aaron, what coaches he has been in contact with from the University of Cincinnati?
“I have been in contact with coach (Chad) Dollar (assistant coach), and coach McGrath. Dollar, known as one of the best recruiters in all of the country, helped Georgia land future #1 overall pick in Anthony Edwards back in 2019-2020.
I asked what stood out to Taylor, about the campus of Cincinnati, and his visit overall?
“I had a really great time, I attended their early practice before the big football game versus UCF shortly after. The energy and fan support at Cincinnati is unreal, it’s crazy. I had fans showing love to us at the game, it’s a great atmosphere, that’s for sure. My favorite part of the visit was for sure meeting the coaching staff, and enjoying the football game. The facilities were all very nice, the coaching staff was really cool, and they all really know a lot about the game of basketball. The fans really made me feel at home, while at Cincinnati. ”
The Cincinnati fan base has been showing out lately. We talked the history of the Bearcats basketball program with the success this season ahs had in the past. I asked Taylor what it was like to check out a program, like Cincinnati that has so much history behind the name, knowing he from right down the road in Louisville, Kentucky?
“It was really great. The Bearcats have a great program. Coach Miller being in his first season as head coach, they have a very good culture going on up there. I am very thankful for the opportunity to visit campus this weekend.”
I asked Aaron about the weekend, if he was able to talk to some of the current players here at Cincinnati, and if he did have the opportunity, what advice were they able to give him as a recruit?
“I really didn’t get the opportunity to have any in depth conversation with the players, didn’t see many of them outside of practice, outside a few at the football game.”
We talked his goals for his upcoming junior season, what he’s doing to prepare for the season, what is next for Taylor?
“I have a big year coming up, I have been grinding and working hard. We will be playing in Vegas, Chicago and Myrtle Beach in the Beach Ball Classic this upcoming season. The Beach Ball Classic is a very big tournament we are playing in. Before my visit to Cincinnati, I attended Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness on Friday, Memphis on Wednesday for their Memphis Madness.”
We talked about his game, the players coaches are expecting to get out of himself?
“Our coaches expect me to hit shots, play defense, so like a “3nD” type role. Our head basketball coach Larry Miller, is a very well known coach in Kentucky, and in the basketball world. Miller preaches defense and toughness all day. It has really helped me improve defensively and has made me tougher. We have a really good team this year and have the potential to make noise.”
I asked Aaron, what is next for him along the way and some of the other schools he has heard from?
“I have always been a under the radar type guy. I went to a small private high school, where we had about 80 students my sophomore year, we still have a low enrollment, but our team is looking nice. I have talked to USI a little bit, I had a private 6 am workout with my teammate 7’0 center Cyr Malogna and a few other teammates in front of coach Stansburry from WKU. He was telling us how he needs to get us on campus soon for an unofficial visit.”
Lastly we talked who Taylor models his game after, and who he considers as models to his game to become the player he now is today?
“I would model my game after Klay Thompson.”
“My trainer Keith Oddo, who played at Louisville, has played some big roles for me to become the player I am today. He has taught me a lot about the game in just the short time I have been working with him.”
