The Bearcats basketball team is in their first year with head coach Wes Miller at the realm, where the Bearcats currently sit 16-9 on the season, (6-6 AAC.) The Bearcats are coming off back to back losses to Tulsa and Memphis over the weekend as they look to bounce back with a huge win over Wichita State at Fifth Third Arena.
Now let’s take a look at the rest of the season moving forward, as the Bearcats kick off a three game home stand, which could arguably play a big factor down the stretch as the Bearcats are currently on the bubble of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats will follow Tuesday’s contest with Memphis, with matchups with Wichita State and Temple as they cap off 4 games in the span of 8 days.
The Bearcats will then look to finish the season on the road for what could be two big matchups in terms of making the NCAA Tournament when they take on Houston, who is coming off a lost to SMU, who the Bearcats beat at home back on January 6th, 77-60. The Bearcats will look to get revenge after the Cougars defeated the Bearcats 80-58 following a big game from Fabian White last weekend at Fifth Third Arena. These last two weeks are very important for the Bearcats as they look to gain momentum heading into the AAC Tournament, where they may need a deep run to make the NCAA Tournament.
The key for the Bearcats down the stretch is to continue to let David DeJulius create for others as he is averaging, a team high, 14.7 points per game, 2.7 rebounds. 2.3 assists, on nearly 43% from the field. The Bearcats will also need to see guys like Jeremiah Davenport, John Newman, Abdul Ado play a big role down the stretch as the Bearcats have the size to compete with a very talented team like Houston, but to go down to Houston and get a win on the road versus a Top 10 team in the country, then follow it up with a potential win at SMU could give the Bearcats the momentum they need headed into the AAC Tournament.
