Who replaces Desmond Ridder for the Bearcats in 2022?

Ben Bryant, redshirt junior

Bryant spent three years with the Bearcats transferred to Eastern Michigan and got to get his feet wet last year. During his time with the Bearcats he got to play when Ridder had injury, but we all know the history of Ridder and last season Bryant got to shine as a starter at EMU as he played in 13 games.

2021 stats: 279-of-408 passing, 3,121 yards, 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 68.4%.

Bryant will have two years left of eligibility if he takes advantage of his covid year. He has a big arm and isn’t a sitting duck in the backfield, but he’s no Prater with his legs. With the knowledge we have right now Bryant is the better passer, even in his time with UC he showed flashes has he started in the front end of the back to back against Memphis in 2019.

If I was a betting man I’d say Bryant is the favorite to be the starter in 2022, because why would you transfer back from a place you just led to a bowl game? But, Prater won’t go down easily and if he starts you know the young man showed huge improvements and would’ve truly earned it.
