Tonight, the Bearcats received a commitment from 6-foot-1 guard Rob Phinisee, Phinisee spent the last four seasons at Indiana University. Phinisee averaged roughly 7 points per game his first three years at Indiana before averaging 4.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting roughly 38% from the field. Wes Miller and the Bearcats strike the portal and get their second commitment of the offseason. Phinisee provides a lot of upside at the guard position, where for people who watched him during the 2021-2022 season, Phinisee hit the game winning three for the Hoosiers in their 66-65 upset over 6th ranked Purdue.
Phinisee was on campus at the beginning of the week for a visit after cutting his final two to Butler and Cincinnati. The Lafayette, Indiana native will play his final year of eligibility in Clifton. Phinisee not only brings the veteran leadership to the Bearcat locker room, but Phinisee brings experience at the guard position to compliment with super senior David DeJulius. Bearcats head coach Wes Miller is attacking the portal here early after landing Old Dominion transfer Kalu Ezipke over the weekend. Phinisee will look to play an immediate role for the Bearcats at the guard position after losing guards Mason Madsen and Mike Saunders to the transfer portal.
