Jesse Minter- Minter, is in his first season as defensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines and is the son of former Bearcat great Rick Minter. Minter was named one of the five semifinalists for the Broyles Award earlier today, which is given to the nation’s top assistant coach in all of college football. Minter’s dad is the second most winningest coach in program history after Luke Fickell passed him earlier this year. Since arriving to Michigan, Minter has changed the defense in ways for the better, as the Wolverines dominated the Buckeyes in a huge 45-23 blowout over the weekend. Minter has taken the Wolverines defense to new heights since taking over as we saw the Wolverines defense get ripped to shreds by Georgia in the Orange Bowl last season, but that’s not the case this year as Minter has built arguably the best defense in the country. He has that connection to the University between his father’s legacy, but for what people may not remember is that Minter was actually on staff from 2008-2009 as a graduate assistant under former head coach Brian Kelly.
