The Bearcats would keep their foot on the gas as they led 47-29 with 16 minutes remaining following a Nolley triple that gave him another double-double on the season. Nolley, was then assessed a technical foul quickly after appearing to exchange some words following the made basket. Sam Griffith, on the other hand was starting to get going for the Golden Hurricane after scoring seven quick points to start the second half.
Tulsa would look to find their grove after making six of their last seven shots, forcing Wes Miller and the Bearcats to call a timeout after the Bearcats failed to get back on defense resulting in an easy layup from Tim Dalger. As, the Golden Hurricane trailed 54-37 they were looking to build some momentum as of late as they shot 70% from the field to start the second half.
The Bearcats would have to find some momentum after the Golden Hurricane couldn’t miss to start the second half. They did just that, after Mika Adams-Woods found Viktor Lakhin over the top for the easy slam, that would spark a Bearcats run forcing a Tulsa timeout. The Bearcats were moving the ball very well in that segment as they held a 74-52 lead with 3 minutes remaining after an and-1 from Davenport. The Bearcats saw five players now in double figures as they were shooting nearly 50% from the field this evening.
The Bearcats would defeat the Golden Hurricane 81-55 after a dominating performance where they saw five players score in double digits. Jeremiah Davenport led the way with a game high 20 points on (6-of-11 from the field), while Landers Nolley notched his fourth double-double of the season as he finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Viktor Lakhin (10/8) and David DeJulius (10/9) both almost notched double doubles as well in the teams 88-51 victory over the Golden Hurricane. The Bearcats also saw a great run from Kalu Ezipke on the defensive end here tonight, which was a great sign to see for Bearcat fans. Ezipke made a huge impact on Bryant Selebangue, who the Bearcats held to just eight points, although he did dominate the glass with 15 rebounds, the Bearcats really did a great job eliminating him on the offensive end tonight.
The Bearcats now improve to (15-8, 6-4 AAC) on the season after bouncing back in the win column this afternoon. The Bearcats will be back in action this Saturday when they welcome in the University of Central Florida (13-8, 4-5 AAC) for a 12 pm tipoff here at Fifth Third Arena.
