4 takeaways from the Bearcats first Satterfield led Spring Game

Jones vs Braynt quarterback battle

The Bearcats quarterback battle is looking to become a very fun battle heading into fall camp after what we saw this afternoon. I thought Emory Jones had his best showing of the Spring this afternoon, including a drive that resulted in a 16 yard touchdown strike to tight end Payton Singletary. Jones would go 4-of-4 on that drive leading to the touchdown, but he also was able to really use his legs this afternoon, as we saw him break off another long touchdown run as well. Jones, a dual threat quarterback is looking to solidify his spot as the team’s number one quarterback, but he knows it will come down to fall camp before a decision is made after a strong Spring from Ben Bryant. “It’s hard to get an answer right now, we all have been playing well. I think it will come down to fall camp, but for me I just want to be critiqued from spring. I want honest answers about myself and how they view me,” said Jones.

Ben Bryant has progressed very well after suffering a foot injury that ended his season last season, however, says he still isn’t 100% yet after being limited the first half of the Spring as he bounced back from injury. Bryant made some very impressive passes today, including a dart down the sideline in a very small window in double coverage to Sterling Berkhalter in this afternoon’s Spring game. A pass that was probably one of Bryant’s best passes all spring from my eyes, as it wowed a lot of people in attendance. This is shaping to be a very unique competition heading into fall camp and will most defiantly be something to keep an eye on. “I think this was biggest test to what a game would look like,’ said Ben Bryant. “I think its important, but I also think there is a lot of film from Spring ball up till today. I think today was a very big and important day with the conclusion of Spring ball.”
