The Bearcats defense continued to do in recent years and that’s dominate. The Bearcats defense held one of the top FCS Programs to just 300 yards of total offense and one touchdown on the afternoon. It all started up front for the Bearcats as Eastern Kentucky really focused on Jowon Briggs and Dontay Corleone up front, which allowed guys like Eric Phillips, and Daniel Grzesiak to have a field day.
The Bearcats forced two interceptions, along with two forced fumbles on the afternoon. Something Bryan Brown and staff have done in the past at Louisville was create turnovers and the Bearcats did just that this afternoon.
Daniel Grzesiak, outside linebacker
Danial Grzesiak had a monster day for the Bearcats on defense leading the team in tackles (7), sacks (1) forced fumbles (1), tackles for loss, (2). Grzesiak was a priority target for Scott Satterfield and staff in the transfer portal this offseason and we all saw why this afternoon. Grzesiak can make an immediate impact for the Bearcats alongside guys like Eric Phillips, Jowon Briggs and Dontay Corleone.
“I love those guys,” said Grzesiak. “Last year, I remember getting chipped and double teamed, but today, I didn’t get touched at all. It was 1-1 all day. I love those guys. If they slide to Briggs and Corleone its ok, I will slide, do my dougie and I will eat.”
