Players to watch for the Knights
RB- RJ Harvey
The Knights lead the Big 12 in rushing behind a stellar season from senior running back RJ Harvey. Harvey leads the Knights backfield with 126 carries and 712 yards on the season, as the senior running back has found the endzone six times as well/ Harvey burst onto the scene last year vs the Bearcats as the Bearcats defense had no answer for Harvey. “They want their speed guys in space so they can have that 1-1 opportunity,” said Scott Satterfield.
“All of Central Florida’s running backs are homerun hitters, RJ especially,” said Bearcats defensive end Malik Vann. “He flashed two weeks ago vs Oklahoma when he found a little seam it took it about 70 yards for the score and it made you sit back and go “wow this kid just hit top speed in like four steps.”
QB John Rhys Plumlee
Plumlee is back for the Knights after missing three games this season due to a knee injury he suffered in the early weeks. Plumlee made his return vs Oklahoma and presented a lot of trouble for the Sooners. Plumlee, a dual threat quarterback who is not afraid to use his legs when he needs too in order to move the chains. “He’s as talented as anyone we have played, “said Scott Satterfield. “He was one of the fastest players during his time at Ole Miss, and probably one of the fastest players at Central Florida. I have heard reports that he has ran a 4.3 forty-yard dash. He did miss time with an injury, but he’s back with a knee brace and that hasn’t slown him down any. He’s really quick, he’s a playmaker who is very confident in throwing the football. He’s an excellent player, he is one of the best dual threats in the country.”
WR Javon Baker
Baker leads the Knights in receptions this season and has been one of the most explosive players within the Big 12 this season. Baker, a transfer from Alabama had a huge game vs the Bearcats last season and will be a guy to keep an eye on come Saturday. The Bearcats secondary has struggled this season in terms of the splash plays, and we have seen that over the course of the season. Baker is that explosive playmaker for the Knights on the offensive side of the ball if you don’t stay locked in on him as he is a guy with very quick speed who can make defenses pay very quickly if left unattended. We saw that two weeks ago vs Oklahoma where he took a 90-yard catch to the house after slipping behind the Sooners defense and was left wide open in the secondary.
