Former Cincinnati wing John Newman has signed a one year deal with the Kortrijk Spurs it was announced earlier this morning. The Spurs are located in Belgium and is a part of the BNXT League, which features 62 teams, making it the largest basketball club in the Country of Belgium.
Newman etched his name into Bearcats history as arguably one of the best on ball defenders to ever where a C-Paw. Newman finished the 2023-2024 season as a Big 12 Defensive First Team selection in his final season of eligibility.
Newman averaged 9.2 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists on 49% field goal shooting over the past season as the veteran wing was the heart and soul of the Bearcats team.
Now for Newman, he raised his stock with his excellent play during his senior season after missing all of the 2022-2023 season due to a knee injury.
However, this is a great opportunity for the talented and crafty wing player to jumpstart his pro career overseas.
Congrats to John!
