Front Office weekly rundown 7/13/12

What’s up everybody? This week has been long had a birthday and off course a lot of basketball signings became official this week. Besides the Penn St. situation, all eyes have been on the NBA this maybe one of the busiest off seasons ever. Well check out what’s been going on in the world of sports this week.

NBA

Blake Griffin had an up and down week. Blake signed a 5 year 95 million dollar extension with the Clippers and while at US Team practice tore his left meniscus. Blake will miss the Olympics which has to hurt because this only comes around every 4 years but Blake should get more opportunities. He will be out 8 weeks hopefully this won’t bother him during the year. Anthony Davis will take Blake’s spot on the US Team

The Charlotte Bobcats signed Ramon Sessions to a 2 year deal. I wonder if he is rethinking opting out of that last year of his contract?

The Rockets amnestied forward Luis Scola. This move caught everybody by surprise.

The 76ers amnestied forward Elton Brand. I can’t say this was a shocking move.

The Rockets signed and traded center Marcus Camby to the Knicks for G Toney Douglas, C Josh Harrelson, C Jerome Jordan and future 2nd round picks. Camby signed a 3 year deal worth 13.2 million. Not bad for a 38-year-old.

The 76ers signed Guard Nick Young to a 1 year deal worth around 6 million dollars. Swaggy P is in Philly yall.

Brook Lopez got maxed out by the Nets, 4 years at 60 million. I know it’s a shortage on big men but max deal? As Martel would say really?

Dallas Mavericks signed Center Chris Kaman to a one year deal at 8 million dollars. Kaman is a solid player in my opinion he just has to stay healthy.

The Mavs also traded for Darren Collinson and Dahntay Jones for Ian Mahinmi. The Pacers just resigned the George Hill for 5 years so Collinson was expendable. This is a good move for the Mavs.

Rashard Lewis signed a 2 year deal with the Heat. With the signing of the sharpshooter the strong get stronger!

Kirk Hinrich returns to the Bulls with a 2 year deal worth about 6 million. Kirk will help ease some of the pain while D. Rose gets healthy.

The Magic signed and traded forward Ryan Anderson  to the Hornets for Center Gustavo Ayon. Anderson received a 4 year deal worth around 34-36 million. What are the Magic doing? I don’t think this trade makes Dwight want to stay what about you?

Milwaukee resigned forward Ersan Ilyasova to a multi year contract.

Atlanta signed guard Lou Williams to a multi-year deal. Lou is a good cost cutting replacement for “Iso” Joe.

NFL

The Cleveland Browns used their 2013 2nd round pick in the supplemental draft to take Baylor receiver Josh Gordon. The Browns need help at receiver so hopefully this works out for them.

MLB

The NL won the All Star game 8-0. First time I’ve ever seen a shutout in the All-Star game.

Prince Fielder won the Home Run derby. Which is his 2nd win in the derby. He is only the 2nd person who has won multiple derby’s, Ken Griffey Jr. is the other with a total of 3.

Blue Jays extend 3B Edwin Encarnacion 3 year at 27 million dollars. Edwin is having a career year, congrats to him.

NCAA

With the Freeh Report coming to the light more information was available for us to see about this Penn State fiasco. As a person with children this is a sad that people cared about football more than the well-being of children. With great power comes great responsibility and a lot of people at Penn State abused their power just to protect the program.

Well that’s it for this week everybody, until next week, PEACE!
